Getting Started

Petit Planet Download, Platforms, and PC Requirements

Petit Planet runs on PC, iOS, and Android with a shared account. This page covers where the client is distributed, what the Final Beta build required, and what to check before installing.

Where the client comes from

At launch, the download should be available from the official site and the standard mobile stores, with the PC client delivered through the studio's own launcher. During the tests, the PC build was distributed as a direct installer from the official channels, and the Chinese forum handled PC test access through TapTap. No console or third-party storefront version has been announced.

An Epic Games Store release is not required and has not been announced. The PC client is the studio's own, so there is no third-party launcher to install first — one of the few points where this game is simpler than a typical PC release.

If you find a download page that is not the official site or a first-party store, close it. The studio posted a notice during the Final Beta about listings selling installers and test accounts, and warned that buying either risks both the account and any payment details attached to it.

PC requirements

No official specification has been published. The test FAQ pointed applicants to the device requirements inside each test's instructions instead of posting a public table, so the numbers circulating in community threads are based on individual machines rather than on a studio statement.

What can be said from the builds themselves: the game is a 3D title with toon-shaded characters, weather, and a fully editable terrain mesh, and on recent laptops it runs on integrated graphics at low settings. The Final Beta also flagged that heavy terrain editing and large decoration counts can cause frame drops and, in at least one reported case, an application crash — so storage and memory headroom matter more than raw GPU power.

Treat any site that lists exact GPU models as a reference point, not as an official requirement. When the store page goes live, the requirement block on that page becomes the number that matters.

Mobile requirements

The mobile client shipped on both iOS and Android during the tests. No minimum OS version or device list has been published, and the Chinese test asked players to enter their device information when applying, which suggests the studio screened devices instead of publishing a minimum.

The practical advice is the same as for the PC build: the game is heavier than a typical farming sim because of the terrain system and the weather effects, so a device that struggles with other 3D mobile titles will struggle here.

Account and cross-device rules

One HoYoverse account covers both clients. During the Final Beta, signing in with the same account on PC and on mobile shared game data, which is how the studio framed cross-device play in its test rules.

That rule came with strict limits: an account could log in on one PC and one mobile device, device binding was set at first login, and switching to another device on the same platform could trigger a ban. Restoring a phone, changing PC hardware, or reinstalling the operating system could also read as a device change. These restrictions are test-only security measures, not launch features, but they explain why the beta felt like it had cross-save while the store wording still says nothing about it.

Emulators and third-party clients

Emulators are not supported. During the tests, access was tied to the official client and to a bound device, and modified or repackaged clients could not pass the login checks. Running the game through an emulator is also the fastest route to the kind of device mismatch that the test rules treated as a violation.

The same applies to account sharing and to any resold installer. The studio stated it would remove test access for accounts involved in trading or sharing, without an appeal path.

Before you install

  • Create the HoYoverse account first and complete any verification it asks for, so the first login is not spent on account setup
  • Keep enough free space for a large 3D client plus patch headroom; the launch size is unknown, and mobile installs usually need roughly double the download size during unpacking
  • Decide which device will be your main one if cross-device rules carry into launch
  • Avoid pre-registering through a third-party code site; the milestone rewards are tied to the official registration

For the timeline and reward tiers, see the release date page. For what the game actually contains once it is running, see what Petit Planet is.

One last habit helps on PC: install to the drive with the most free space, because a terrain-heavy 3D client grows with every patch and the unpacking step needs room to spare.
